Sepang F1 Concert Upgrades: Axwell Saturday, Garrix Sunday — What They Cost

Axwell plays Saturday and Martin Garrix headlines Sunday at Sepang, but neither is included in your race ticket. The official upgrade prices (US$50 / US$100), how they work, and the thing most buyers miss.

The two biggest names on the Sepang entertainment program are genuine global headliners — and the thing most buyers miss is this: the concerts are not included in your race ticket. Each show needs a separate paid upgrade, on top of a valid F1 weekend ticket. Here's the official pricing, straight from the joint announcement by Bahrain International Circuit and Sepang International Circuit.

Who's playing, and what it costs

Saturday, October 3 — Axwell, 7:35 PM. The Grammy-nominated Swedish DJ, co-founder of Swedish House Mafia. Upgrade: US$50 per person (about RM202).

Sunday, October 4 — Martin Garrix, 8:40 PM, headlining the post-race concert. The Dutch hitmaker behind 'Animals,' a multiple-time DJ Mag #1. Upgrade: US$100 per person (about RM405).

One upgrade covers one concert — a separate ticket is required for each night.

How the upgrades work

Upgrades are exclusive to race-weekend ticket holders — no F1 ticket, no concert. The early eligibility window was tied to buying race tickets by early September; since then, upgrades have been offered first-come, first-served, subject to limited venue capacity.

Upgrade instructions are sent directly to ticket holders by email. If you hold a race ticket and haven't received them, check your spam folder, then contact the official channels — don't wait until Saturday.

Third-party sellers list concert passes too, but the rule to remember: a concert pass alone does not grant venue access — you must also hold a valid F1 ticket, and you can't buy more concert passes than you have F1 tickets in your booking. If you bought your race ticket secondhand, make sure the seller forwards any concert upgrade emails — they go to the original ticket buyer.

Is it worth it?

The honest take: if you like electronic music at all, Sunday night is the weekend's biggest party — a headline Garrix set with the whole crowd still buzzing. US$100 is steep next to a RM200 hillstand ticket, but it's in line with what Garrix commands at festivals worldwide. Saturday's Axwell show at half the price is the easier call, with less of a late-night penalty before race day.

The practical case against: it's a late night, and then you still have to get out. The free Rapid KL shuttles run until midnight — see the transport guide for the exit picture. If you're flying out Sunday night, the concert probably isn't for you.
