MyKad tickets, explained

The cheapest way into Sepang this October is the MyKad ticket — discounted 3-day passes reserved for Malaysian citizens, including the famous RM200 "Madani" hillstand ticket. But the rules are strict, and the penalties are real. Here's everything, drawn from the Sepang International Circuit's official published guidelines.

The four official rules

  1. Malaysians only. MyKad-discounted tickets are valid for Malaysian citizens holding a valid MyKad — no exceptions.
  2. Bring your MyKad to the gate. Verification happens at entry. This is the rule people trip on: your ticket alone isn't enough.
  3. Wrong ticket, wrong person — consequences. If your discounted ticket doesn't match a valid MyKad, the organizers can deny you entry or make you pay the price difference on the spot.
  4. No refund if verification fails. A cancelled ticket due to failed MyKad verification is not refundable. Don't test this one.

The prices (3-day passes, tax included)

  • G hillstand — RM200 (the Madani ticket; MyKad holders only)
  • B hillstand — RM809.60
  • C hillstand — RM809.60
  • F grandstand — RM1,291.40
  • K1 grandstand — RM1,386.00
  • Main grandstand — RM2,083.40

Children aged 3–6 get 25% off (every category except G hillstand); under-3s enter free with no seat allocated.

The payment catch Prices are displayed in Ringgit, but every transaction is processed in Bahraini Dinar at the exchange rate on the day of purchase — because Bahrain International Circuit, not Sepang, is the ticket seller. The final amount on your card may differ slightly from the RM price you saw. This is official and expected, not an error.

International tickets run USD 218.90–566.06 for the same categories. A MyKad-discounted ticket that doesn't correspond to a valid MyKad will be invalidated — buying one as a non-citizen, or buying one from a reseller, risks exactly the denial-of-entry scenario in rule 3. This is also why the verification exists: scalpers were reported reselling tickets at up to 3x markup, and the MyKad check is what stops that inventory from working.
