The PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia 2026 runs Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 1 at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit — Round 20 of the MotoGP season, three weeks out. Friday is free entry to all seat zones; tickets cover Saturday and Sunday, from RM49.90 (K2 Hillstand, MyKad holders) to RM510 (Premier Roving) on the official circuit price list. MotoGP is confirmed at Sepang through 2031, and the 2025 edition drew a record 190,977 fans.

Getting there

Sepang sits between Kuala Lumpur and KLIA — about 45 minutes from the city, 15–20 from the airport. The playbook from the October F1 weekend: KLIA Ekspres (RM55 one-way) to the airport then the event shuttle; Grab at RM65–100+ from the city with race-day surge; or the free event shuttles from hub points. On race mornings, expect private cars funneled away from the circuit perimeter into designated hubs — plan around the hubs, not the gate. Full transport guide with race-day specifics.

Where to stay

Four bases, one trade-off. KL for the scene (45–60 min commute). Near KLIA for proximity and quiet (15–20 min). Cyberjaya/Putrajaya for the budget play — rooms held near-normal prices through the F1 weekend while circuit-area hotels roughly tripled. Sepang town if you want to be close and don't mind thin pickings. The full race-weekend stay guide with named hotels and prices.

Where to sit

First-timer? K1 Grandstand (RM206.25) — Turn 1 at Sepang is one of MotoGP's great overtaking spots, and the atmosphere is the loudest on the circuit. Best view for the money: F Grandstand (RM143.75) covers more track than anything near its price. Covered certainty: Main Grandstand (RM345). The full grandstand guide.

What it costs: the whole weekend

Ticket + two nights + transport + food, one person: ~RM580–675 budget (hillstand/F Grandstand, Cyberjaya base), ~RM1,120 mid-range (Main Grandstand, mid hotel), ~RM2,500+ premium. The complete budget breakdown with priced tables.

Why this race matters

MotoGP at Sepang isn't a sideshow — it's one of the championship's cornerstone flyaways, confirmed on the calendar through 2031, and the 2025 edition set the all-time attendance record at 190,977. The track is a riders' favorite: wide, fast, technical, with the kind of Turn 1 that decides championships. If you only do one MotoGP weekend in Asia, this is the one.
